Wow! What a quarter so far and we are not even half way into it yet! I decided to become more active and involved with the school this quarter.
On Wednesday afternoons, Amy Blomquist and Jill Mott has started a after-school photo club for Sabin World Elementary. Myself along with other AiC photography students are teaching Kindergarten through 5th grade about photography and taking images. So far we are going into our 3rd week with the kids over a 6 week program. The kids are just as excited every week as we are to be there!
Last week we did the "ABC" scavanger hunt, where the kids take photographs of things starting with the letters in the alphabet. The rain didn't keep us from having fun! Every week we put together a slideshow of the images taken by the kids so they can see their work as well as their fellow peers.
The last week of May we will be putting together an exhibition of the chilldrens work to be displayed for family and friends. All work will be for sale and all proceeds will be given to the school. Can't wait for tomorrow!
On Thursdays I have joined the Student Action League. Other AiC students from all programs meet to discuss certain topics/ issues that are impacting student lifestyle around the school. Last quarter we were able to implement a recycling program. What a difference this has made! This quarter we are working on few major projects: parking, an outside gallery, and a few videos to get more students involved around the school. It is a lot of fun and is open to all students! We have a new leader, all kudos go to John Richardson.
I have also volunteered my time to teacha Student 2 Student Learning Workshop. It will be about study habits and time management! Better get my own act together for this, for it will be a learning experience for myself as well as others. Check out the AiC Student Life blog to find out more about AiC events and clubs- it's a great way to get INVOLVED! http://aicstudentlife.wordpress.com/
